Langtang Helambu
Langtang Helambu
Located just north of Kathmandu, the Langtang region is the most accessible Himalayan escape, offering high-mountain drama without the long flights or intense crowds of Everest. Known as the "Valley of Glaciers," it features the stunning Langtang Lirung 7,227 m and the sacred alpine lakes of Gosaikunda, a major pilgrimage site. The region is primarily inhabited by the Tamang people, whose culture remains deeply authentic and influenced by Tibetan traditions. After a remarkable recovery from the 2015 earthquake, Langtang has become a symbol of resilience, offering trekkers peaceful trails through rhododendron forests that are also home to the elusive red panda.
