Overview

This trek combines the best of Langtang Valley with the sacred high lakes of Gosaikunda, creating a varied Himalayan journey that feels remote yet stays relatively close to Kathmandu. You start with a drive to Syabru Besi and trek up the Langtang Khola valley through forest and riverside trails to Langtang Village and Kyanjin Gompa, the valley’s famous high settlement and the base for the viewpoint hike to Kyanjin Ri.

After enjoying the high valley scenery, you descend to Ghoda Tabela and transition toward Thulo Syabru, then climb again through forested ridge trails to Sing Gompa (Chandanbari) and onward to Gosaikunda. The trek finishes with a steady descent through Sing Gompa and Dhunche, then a comfortable drive back to Kathmandu with a buffer day before departure.

Itinerary

Day 1Arrive in KathmanduOvernight: 1350 m

Arrive in Nepal’s capital and transfer to your hotel. Keep the day light so you can rest, hydrate, and settle in comfortably after travel.
If you arrive early, a relaxed walk and an easy dinner is a great way to start the trip.

Day 2KathmanduOvernight: 1350 m

A flexible day for preparation and orientation. This is ideal for your trek briefing, final gear check, and making sure everything is set for the mountain days ahead.
If you want, you can add optional sightseeing and still keep the day unhurried.

Day 3Drive to Syabru BesiOvernight: 1500 m

You drive north out of Kathmandu and follow river valleys and mountain roads into the Langtang gateway area. The scenery shifts steadily from city edges to terraced hillsides and deeper, steeper valleys.
Syabru Besi feels like a true trail town and a practical base to rest well before the first trekking day.

Day 4Trek to Lama HotelOvernight: 2470 m

Your first trekking day follows the Langtang Khola valley on forested trails that stay close to the river. The route feels green, cool, and sheltered, with the sound of flowing water and birds making a constant background.
Lama Hotel is a classic stopping point in the forest zone and a comfortable place to end the first climb into the valley.

Day 5Trek to Langtang VillageOvernight: 3430 m

The valley begins to open as you gain altitude, with more alpine vegetation and a bigger mountain feel. The trek often passes through Ghoda Tabela area on the way, where the scenery becomes wider and more dramatic.
Arriving at Langtang Village feels like a major milestone - you are now properly in the high valley, surrounded by mountain walls and traditional settlement life.

Day 6Trek to KyanjinOvernight: 3830 m

Today you move higher into the upper valley toward Kyanjin Gompa, where the trail enters an open alpine basin with yak pastures and big mountain backdrops. The day often feels rewarding because the scenery becomes more expansive and dramatic.
Kyanjin is the valley’s main base for exploration, and you will have time to settle in, relax, and enjoy the high mountain atmosphere.

Day 7Kyanjin Ri Day HikeOvernight: 3830 m

A full day to explore above Kyanjin and gain altitude safely. The hike to Kyanjin Ri is the classic viewpoint outing in Langtang, offering panoramic perspectives across the valley and surrounding peaks when skies are clear.
You return to Kyanjin for a second night, which supports acclimatization and keeps the trek comfortable and well-paced.

Day 8Trek to GhoratabelaOvernight: 3030 m

You begin descending down the Langtang Valley, and the landscape becomes greener and more sheltered again as you lose altitude. This is a comfortable transition day that lets your body recover after the higher viewpoint hike.
Ghoratabela is a well-known stopping point in the mid-valley corridor and works well as an overnight on the way down.

Day 9Trek to Thulo SyabruOvernight: 2250 m

Today shifts you away from the main Langtang Valley corridor toward the Syabru side, bringing a noticeable change in scenery and village feel. As you descend and traverse, the air warms, vegetation thickens, and village life becomes more present again.
Thulo Syabru is a lively village stop and a key transition point before climbing toward the Gosaikunda side.

Day 10Trek to Sing Gompa (Chandanbari)Overnight: 3330 m

You climb out of Thulo Syabru into cooler forest terrain, often with a strong mountain-lodge feel as you gain altitude. This day is a clear transition from mid-hill village corridors into higher ridge country.
Sing Gompa, also known as Chandanbari, is a well-known monastery area and a popular staging stop before heading to the lake basin.

Day 11Trek to GosaikundaOvernight: 4420 m

A major ascent day into the high lake zone. The landscape becomes more open and alpine, and you feel the altitude as you approach the sacred lakes.
Reaching Gosaikunda is a special moment - the lake basin is stark, beautiful, and spiritually significant, and it feels like a true high Himalayan destination.

Day 12Trek to Sing GompaOvernight: 3080 m

You begin descending from the lake zone into more sheltered terrain, with forest gradually returning and the air feeling noticeably richer. The trail feels calmer and more comfortable after the high-altitude day at Gosaikunda.
Returning to Sing Gompa is a welcome reset, with a peaceful overnight atmosphere.

Day 13Trek to DhuncheOvernight: 2030 m

Continue descending through forested trails and hillside paths toward Dhunche, with warmer temperatures and more village activity returning as you lose altitude.
Dhunche is a key gateway town for the region and a practical place to finish the trekking portion before the drive back to Kathmandu.

Day 14Drive to KathmanduOvernight: 1350 m

Drive back to Kathmandu and return to your hotel. After days on the trail, city comfort feels like a reward - hot shower, great food, and a relaxed evening.
This is also a good time for souvenir browsing or a final dinner out.
