Overview
This Pikey Peak itinerary is a fantastic choice for trekkers who want big Himalayan panoramas with a quieter, road-access approach. You drive from Kathmandu to Dhap and begin trekking through peaceful Solu villages to Jhapre, then climb onto the high ridge to the Pikey Peak Base Camp lodge. The trek’s signature moment is the sunrise summit of Pikey Peak (4,065m), widely known as a viewpoint for sweeping Himalayan scenery on clear days.
Instead of continuing toward Junbesi, this route descends into the greener, warmer landscape around Kinja, offering a strong contrast to the crisp ridgelines. After the trek, you drive to Charikot for a comfortable eco-resort stay, then return to Kathmandu with a buffer day before departure. Accommodation is local lodge/teahouse based on the trail, selected for the best available comfort and cleanliness at each stop.
Highlights
- Sunrise climb of Pikey Peak (4,065m)
- Wide Himalayan panoramas on clear days, often described as including Everest and other major peaks
- A quieter “Lower Everest” route without the Lukla flight requirement
- Solu village atmosphere on the Dhap and Jhapre approach
- High-ridge overnight at the Pikey Peak Base Camp lodge zone
- A scenic ridge-to-valley transition as you descend toward Kinja
- Warm, greener valley landscapes around Kinja after the high ridge days
- Comfortable post-trek finish with an eco-resort stay in the Charikot area
- A relaxed Kathmandu buffer day before departure
Itinerary
Day 1Arrive in Kathmandu | Transfer to KGHOvernight: 1350 m
Arrive in Kathmandu and we transfer you to Kathmandu Guest House (KGH). The day is kept light so you can rest, hydrate, and recover from travel. If you arrive early, you can take a gentle walk nearby and pick up any last essentials like sunscreen, lip balm, and snacks for the road. In the evening, we keep things calm and go over the trek plan at a relaxed pace.
Day 2Kathmandu | Optional World Heritage SightseeingOvernight: 1350 m
This is your second Kathmandu day, so it can be used for Optional World Heritage Sightseeing while still leaving time for preparation. We use the day for a briefing, final gear checks, and making sure your layers work for warm days and cold ridge mornings. If you choose sightseeing, we keep it comfortable and efficient so you still have downtime. A relaxed evening and good sleep help a lot before the long drive tomorrow.
Day 3 Drive to DhapOvernight: 3000 m
You drive out from Kathmandu toward Solukhumbu, with the scenery shifting from city edges to terraced hillsides and deeper rural valleys. This is a travel-heavy day, so we keep the timing realistic and take comfort stops as needed. As you gain elevation, the air becomes cooler and the landscape begins to feel like true mid-hill Himalaya. Dhap is a common approach point for Pikey Peak and a good place to rest well before the first trekking day.
Day 4 Trek to JhapreOvernight: 2939 m
Today you begin trekking on quiet village trails, moving through forest sections and rural settlements with a strong local feel. Because you are already at high elevation from Dhap, we keep the pace steady and focus on comfortable breathing rather than speed. Jhapre is a classic overnight stop on this route and works well for settling into the trek rhythm. The evening is calm and is a good time to hydrate well and rest, since the next stage climbs higher onto the ridge.
Day 5Trek to Pikey Peak Base Camp LodgeOvernight: 3780 m
You climb higher onto the ridge system, and the environment becomes more alpine and open compared to the lower villages. The trail gradually feels more remote, with wider horizons and a crisp mountain atmosphere as you approach the base camp lodge area. This is the key staging night for the sunrise summit, so we keep the afternoon relaxed and focus on warmth and rest. An early dinner and early sleep make tomorrow’s summit morning much more comfortable.
Day 6Sunrise climb of Pikey Peak, trek to Jasmane BhanjyangOvernight: 3600 m
You start before sunrise for the climb to Pikey Peak (4,065m), aiming for the best light and clearest skies.
On clear days, Pikey Peak is widely described as offering sweeping Himalayan panoramas, often including Everest and other major peaks.
After enjoying the summit, you descend and continue toward Jasmane Bhanjyang, with the route shifting into quieter ridge-country and pasture landscapes. The evening is usually restful because you have completed the trek’s main high point and are now sleeping lower.
Day 7Trek to KinjaOvernight: 1620 m
Today you descend steadily off the ridge into warmer valley terrain, where vegetation thickens and the air becomes noticeably richer. The day has a strong “back into green Nepal” feel after the crisp ridge days. Kinja is a small settlement area that works well as a finishing trek stop because it sits much lower and allows your body to recover quickly. After arrival, you can enjoy a more comfortable night’s sleep and a relaxed evening meal.
Day 8Drive to Charikot (Eco Resort)Overnight: 2020 m
You transition from trekking back to vehicle travel and drive toward the Charikot (Bhimeshwar) area for an eco-resort stay. The day is designed to decompress - leaving the trail behind and returning to comfortable facilities. The scenery shifts into road-side hills and settlement life as you move away from the Solu trekking corridor. After check-in, you can relax properly with a hot shower, good food, and a calm night’s sleep.
Day 9Drive to Kathmandu | Transfer to KGHOvernight: 1350 m
You drive back to Kathmandu, with the landscape shifting from hill towns and river valleys into the city. We keep the day practical with comfort stops so the journey feels smooth. After the quiet of the trek, Kathmandu feels lively and convenient for final shopping and a farewell meal. We transfer you back to Kathmandu Guest House (KGH) and keep the evening relaxed.
Day 10Kathmandu | Optional World Heritage SightseeingOvernight: 1350 m
A full free day in Kathmandu that can be used for Optional World Heritage Sightseeing, shopping, or simply resting at KGH. It also works as a buffer day in case road timings shift. Many guests use this time for a calm café day, souvenir shopping, and relaxed packing. We keep the schedule unhurried so departure day feels easy and stress-free.
Day 11Depart | Transfer to TIA
We transfer you to Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) for your onward flight home.
