Overview

This itinerary blends the quieter ridge-view experience of Mohare Danda (around 3,300m) with the classic Poon Hill sunrise (3,200m), then continues through iconic Annapurna foothills villages toward Chhomrong and Landruk. Mohare Danda is loved for its peaceful, less-crowded viewpoint atmosphere compared to the busier routes, while Poon Hill delivers the famous sunrise moment that made this region a classic.

You start in Kathmandu (Kathmandu Guest House – KGH), fly to Pokhara, then begin trekking from the Tikhedhunga area to reach Banthanti and the ridge viewpoint section. From Mohare Danda or Kokhe Danda you traverse to Ghorepani, hike Poon Hill at sunrise, and continue through Tadapani into the Gurung village corridor toward Chhomrong, Landruk, and Dhampus. The trek finishes with a relaxed Pokhara day before you return to Kathmandu for departure.

  • A full Pokhara rest day built in before returning to Kathmandu

Itinerary

Day 1Arrive in Kathmandu | Transfer to KGHOvernight: 1350 m

Arrive in Kathmandu and we transfer you to Kathmandu Guest House (KGH). The day is kept light so you can rest, hydrate, and recover from travel. If you arrive early, you can take a short walk nearby and pick up any last-minute essentials for the trek. In the evening, we keep things calm so you start the trip feeling fresh and well-rested.

Day 2Kathmandu | Optional World Heritage SightseeingOvernight: 1350 m

This is your second day in Kathmandu, so it can be used for Optional World Heritage Sightseeing while still keeping time for trek preparation. You will have a trek briefing, final gear checks, and time to organize layers for warm days and cooler mornings in the hills. If you choose sightseeing, we keep it relaxed and efficient so you still have downtime. A calm evening and good sleep help a lot before the Pokhara flight tomorrow.

Day 3Fly to PokharaOvernight: 815 m

Fly to Pokhara and settle into Nepal’s most relaxed trekking gateway. The lakeside atmosphere is perfect for slowing down and preparing calmly for the trek start. Depending on arrival time, you can enjoy a gentle walk by Phewa Lake or simply rest and enjoy good food. This is also a good moment to double-check your daypack setup and keep hydration strong. An early night is recommended so you feel fresh for the trailhead transfer tomorrow.

Day 4Trek to BanthantiOvernight: 2200 m

After a drive to the Tikhedhunga area, you begin trekking into the Annapurna foothills on village trails through terraced farmland and forest edges. The day is designed to build your trekking rhythm gradually, with steady climbs that feel rewarding without rushing. Banthanti is a classic ridge-side stopping point on this corridor, and the evening is usually calm and cozy. This first foothills overnight sets the tone for the scenic ridge days ahead

Day 5Trek to Kokhe Danda or Mohare DandaOvernight: 3300 m

Today you climb onto the higher ridge viewpoint zone where the landscape feels more open and panoramic. The trail often moves through forest sections and then breaks out onto broader ridgelines as you approach the viewpoint areas. Mohare Danda is widely referenced around 3,300m, and it is appreciated for its quieter, more peaceful atmosphere compared to the busiest routes.

If you overnight at Kokhe Danda instead, it is commonly cited around 3,303m and offers a similarly big ridge-view experience.

Day 6Trek to GhorepaniOvernight: 2850 m

You continue along scenic ridge trails toward Ghorepani, transitioning from the quiet viewpoint zone into a more classic teahouse village atmosphere. The day often feels like a blend of forest walking and open sections, with a noticeable sense of entering the “Poon Hill corridor.” Ghorepani is a lively trekking hub and the traditional base for the early sunrise hike. After arrival, it is best to rest well and sleep early because tomorrow starts before dawn.

Day 7Hiking to Poon Hill sunrise, trek to TadapaniOvernight: 2630 m

Before sunrise, you hike up to Poon Hill for one of Nepal’s most famous viewpoint experiences, then return for breakfast.

After breakfast, you continue trekking through forest and ridge trails toward Tadapani, with the scenery shifting between wooded sections and occasional open viewpoints. Tadapani is commonly referenced around 2,630m, and it is known as a peaceful stop on the Ghorepani side routes.

This day feels special because it combines the excitement of the sunrise with a beautiful onward trail, rather than ending the day immediately after the viewpoint.

Day 8Trek to ChhomrongOvernight: 2170 m

Today you move toward Chhomrong, a famous Gurung village that sits on a ridge above the Modi Khola valley and is widely described around 2,170m.

The trail has a classic foothills rhythm of climbs and descents as you transition from the Tadapani side into the Annapurna Sanctuary approach corridor. You will notice the atmosphere becoming more connected to the ABC route, with more trekking movement and a stronger mountain-trail feel. Chhomrong itself is a highlight village with a lively, welcoming energy and a great place to rest well. The evening is best kept relaxed so you recover properly before the lower village days ahead.

Day 9Trek to LandrukOvernight: 1560 m

You trek through village trails and terraced hillsides toward Landruk, shifting back into a warmer, more lived-in mid-hill landscape. The day feels culturally rich, with a slower village-to-village pace compared to the deeper valley corridor days. Landruk is commonly referenced around 1,565m, and it is a comfortable, charming place to overnight.

This lower altitude often brings noticeably better sleep and appetite, which helps the trek feel balanced and enjoyable.

Day 10Trek to Dhampus, drive to PokharaOvernight: 815 m

You trek toward Dhampus, a ridge village widely referenced at 1,650m, known for its gentle foothills setting and open viewpoints in clear weather.

After reaching Dhampus, you drive back down to Pokhara and return to lakeside comfort. This day is designed to feel like a satisfying transition from trail life to relaxation rather than a rushed finish. Once you are back in Pokhara, a hot shower and a relaxed dinner by the lake feel like the perfect reward.

Day 11Fly to Kathmandu | Transfer to KGHOvernight: 1350 m

Fly back to Kathmandu and we transfer you to Kathmandu Guest House (KGH). After days in the hills, the city feels comfortable and easy, and you can enjoy a final celebratory meal or do last-minute shopping. We keep the schedule light so you can pack calmly and rest well. This day also acts as a practical buffer in case travel timings shift.

Day 12Depart | Transfer to TIA

We transfer you to Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) for your onward flight home.
