Overview
This is a jeep safari style trip into the Annapurna region, designed for travelers who want to experience Upper Manang without committing to long trekking days. You begin in Kathmandu (Kathmandu Guest House – KGH), then travel overland with cultural stopovers in Nuwakot and Gorkha before driving up to Dharapani, the classic gateway point on the Annapurna Circuit approach. Dharapani is commonly listed around 1,860m, and from here the road climbs deeper into the Marsyangdi valley toward Manang (3,540m), a high Himalayan settlement famous as the acclimatization hub of the Annapurna Circuit.
You spend multiple days based in Manang for relaxed exploration – short walks, viewpoints, village culture, and time to simply enjoy the high mountain atmosphere at a comfortable pace. The return journey is staged nicely with a stop in Bandipur (a well-known hilltop town widely cited around 1,030m) and a relaxed Pokhara section (often listed around 815m in trekking itineraries) before flying back to Kathmandu for a smooth finish.
Highlights
- Overland Jeep journey into the Annapurna region with lodge-based comfort

- Pokhara leisure time for lakeside relaxation before returning to Kathmandu
Itinerary
Day 1Arrive in Kathmandu | Transfer to KGHOvernight: 1350 m
Arrive in Kathmandu and we transfer you to Kathmandu Guest House (KGH). This day is kept easy so you can rest after your journey and settle in comfortably. If you arrive early, you can do a gentle walk around Thamel and prepare anything you want for the road journey, like power banks and a neck buff. In the evening, we review the overland plan, road conditions, and what the lodge comfort is like in Manang.
Day 2Kathmandu | Optional World Heritage SightseeingOvernight: 1350 m
This second Kathmandu day can be used for Optional World Heritage Sightseeing while still keeping time for trip preparation. It is also a good day for a calm briefing and final checks for the long drive days ahead. If you prefer to rest, this day works perfectly as a slow café day and early sleep. We keep everything flexible so you start the overland journey feeling fresh.
Day 3 Drive to Nuwakot | Visit Nuwakot DurbarOvernight: 900 m
You drive out of Kathmandu into the mid-hills and reach the historic Nuwakot area. The highlight is visiting Nuwakot Durbar, a palace complex that played an important historical role and sits on a hilltop setting. Many travel references describe the Durbar area around 900m, and the views over the surrounding valleys can be excellent in clear weather.
After the visit, you settle into your lodge or hotel and enjoy a relaxed evening in a quieter hill-town atmosphere.
Day 4Drive to Gorkha | Visit Gorkha PalaceOvernight: 1000 m
Today you drive toward Gorkha, a district strongly linked with the formation of modern Nepal. You visit Gorkha Palace (Gorkha Durbar), a historic landmark built in the 16th century and located on a hill above the bazaar. Nepal Tourism Board describes the palace hill as around 1,000m, and the site is typically reached by a walk up from the town area.
After sightseeing, you settle in for the night and enjoy the calm pace before heading toward the mountain road corridor tomorrow.
Day 5 Drive to DharapaniOvernight: 1860 m
The drive today shifts from hill towns into the Marsyangdi valley corridor, where the scenery becomes more mountainous and river-driven. Roads can be slow and dusty in sections, so the day is planned with realistic pacing and comfort stops. Dharapani is a key gateway village on the Annapurna corridor and is widely listed at around 1,860m, which makes it a comfortable step before going higher.
You settle into a lodge and rest well, because the next stage climbs further toward Manang.
Day 6Drive to ManangOvernight: 3540 m
You continue driving deeper into the valley, climbing steadily into a drier, higher Himalayan landscape. The road journey is scenic and gives you a sense of how quickly the environment shifts as altitude increases. By the time you reach Manang, the air is crisp and the mountain setting feels dramatic and expansive. Manang is widely described at around 3,540m and is famous as the acclimatization hub of the Annapurna Circuit.
After arrival, the evening is kept relaxed with warm food and rest to help your body settle into the altitude.
Day 7Explore ManangOvernight: 3539 m
A full day to enjoy Manang at an unhurried pace. You can explore the village lanes, enjoy short walks to viewpoints above the settlement, and take in the surrounding peaks from different angles. This day is designed to be flexible so you can move as much or as little as you like while your body adapts. If you want light cultural visits, Manang’s valley villages are known for Buddhist heritage and traditional mountain life.
Day 8Drive to BandipurOvernight: 1030 m
You begin the descent and drive toward Bandipur, with landscapes transitioning from high valley terrain back into greener hills. Bandipur is a well-known hilltop town with a preserved old-town feel, and multiple references place it around 1,030m.
After arrival, you can enjoy a relaxed walk through the bazaar streets and settle into a comfortable night at a much lower altitude.
Day 9 Drive to PokharaOvernight: 815 m
A scenic drive takes you onward to Pokhara, Nepal’s relaxed lakeside hub and the perfect place to decompress after the high valley. The day is designed to be comfortable and unhurried, with time to settle into your hotel and enjoy the lakeside atmosphere. Many trekking itineraries list Pokhara around 815m, and it usually feels noticeably warmer and easier on the body after Manang.
In the evening, a calm dinner by the lake is a great way to celebrate the journey.
Day 10 Explore PokharaOvernight: 815 m
A full day in Pokhara for rest and leisure. You can keep it simple with lakeside cafés and shopping, or add light sightseeing depending on your mood. This day is intentionally flexible so the trip feels like a journey, not just a long series of drives. A relaxed evening prepares you for the flight back to Kathmandu later in the itinerary.
Day 11Fly to Kathmandu | Transfer to KGHOvernight: 1350 m
You fly back to Kathmandu and we transfer you to Kathmandu Guest House (KGH). After the road journey and high valley air, city comfort feels like a real reward. You can use the evening for a relaxed meal, souvenir shopping, and calm packing. We keep the schedule light so the end of the trip stays smooth.
Day 12Kathmandu | Optional World Heritage SightseeingOvernight: 1350 m
This second Kathmandu day can be used for Optional World Heritage Sightseeing, final shopping, or simply resting. It also works as a buffer in case domestic flights shift. Many guests prefer a calm café day and an early night before departure. We keep everything unhurried so departure day feels easy.
Day 13Depart | Transfer to TIA
We transfer you to Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) for your onward flight home.
