Planning & Booking

How do I choose the right trek?

Start with these 4 questions:

How many days do you have (including travel days)?

Do you want teahouse comfort or more remote routes?

What’s your altitude comfort level (first trek vs experienced)?

Do you prefer iconic highlights (Everest/Annapurna) or quiet trails (Langtang, Dolpo, Mustang)?

If you tell us your dates + fitness + travel style, we’ll recommend 2–3 best options.

Can you customize a trek for my dates?

Yes - most of our trips can be customised: start dates, pacing, rest days, hotels, private jeep transfers, and add-ons such as Chitwan, Pokhara, Kathmandu Valley tours.

Do you run private treks?

Yes, we do! Private trips are great if you want:

  • Your own pace + flexible stops
  • Family travel
  • Photography-focused itineraries
  • Extra acclimatisation days

What’s the booking process?

  • Share your preferred trek/dates (or ask us to recommend).
  • We confirm availability + final plan.
  • You pay a deposit to secure the booking.
  • We handle permits, logistics, and a pre-trek briefing.

What’s included in your treks?

It depends on the trek, but typically includes:

  • Licensed guide + support staff
  • Accommodation on trek (teahouses / lodges)
  • Required trekking permits (where applicable)
  • Ground logistics (transport, coordination)
  • Safety planning + daily check-ins

We’ll clearly list What’s Included / Not Included on each trek page.

Do you offer fixed departures?

Yes we do! Fixed departures are ideal if you want:

  • A set date (great for planning flights)
  • A social group atmosphere
  • Best-value shared logistics

How far in advance should I book?

Peak seasons: 2–4 months ahead (Autumn + Spring)

Everest flights / popular routes: earlier is safer

Last-minute: possible, but options may be limited

VISA & Entry Requirement

Do I need a visa for Nepal?

Most travellers can get a Tourist Visa on Arrival at Kathmandu airport and major land borders (eligibility depends on nationality).

How much is a Nepal tourist visa?

Common visa fees (Tourist Visa) are:

  • "Transit - 5 USD
  • 15 Days - 30 USD
  • 30 Days - 50 USD
  • 90 Days - 125 USD"

Are there any nationalities that can’t get visa on arrival?

Yes - some nationalities must obtain a visa before arriving. Nepal Tourism Board lists the current exceptions.

"Prohibition to Visa on Arrival

Foreign Nationals (except officials and diplomatic passport holders) of following 12 countries are requested to obtain Tourist visa from Nepalese diplomatic mission (Embassies and Consulates) prior to their departure to Nepal.

Nigeria
Ghana

Swaziland
Cameroon
Somalia
Liberia
Ethiopia
Iraq
Palestine
Afghanistan
Syria"

What do I need for visa on arrival?

Typically:

  • Passport with sufficient validity
  • Visa fee payment (often easiest in cash)
  • A completed arrival form (done at kiosks/online depending on airport setup)

Rules can change - always check the latest guidance before travel.

Permits & Trek Rules

What permits do I need for trekking in Nepal?

Most treks require a combination of:

National Park / Conservation Area permit

Sometimes additional local fees (route dependent)

Restricted area permits for certain regions/routes

We handle the permits for your itinerary and tell you exactly what’s needed.

Do I need a guide in Nepal?

In recent years, Nepal has moved toward stricter requirements around trekking with licensed guides on many routes, and policies/enforcement can vary by region and season. We recommend trekking with a licensed guide for safety, logistics, and compliance.

Best Time to Trek

What’s the best season to trek Nepal?

Autumn (Sep–Nov): best weather + clear mountain views

Spring (Mar–May): warmer days + rhododendron bloom (many regions)

Can I trek in winter (Dec–Feb)?

Yes - great for lower elevations and quieter trails. Higher passes can be snowbound. We’ll recommend winter-safe routes.

Can I trek during monsoon (Jun–Aug)?

Some areas are still excellent (especially rain-shadow regions like Upper Mustang). Other regions can be wet with leeches and cloudy views—route choice matters.

Fitness, Difficulty & Altitude

How fit do I need to be?

If you can:

  • walk 5 - 7 hours a day,
  • handle stairs/hills,
  • and keep consistent pacing

You can do many classic treks with proper acclimatisation.

We’ll tell you honestly if a trek is too aggressive for your timeline or fitness.

What’s the biggest challenge - distance or altitude?

For most travellers: altitude and recovery. That’s why itinerary pacing matters more than “being tough.”

What is altitude sickness and how do you manage it?

We take acclimatisation seriously:

  • gradual ascent planning
  • rest/acclimatisation days where needed
  • daily symptom checks
  • conservative decisions (safety first)

If anyone feels unwell, we slow down, descend, or arrange evacuation if required.

Should I take Diamox?

Some trekkers choose it, some don’t. Being a medical decision - please ask your doctor. We’ll give practical altitude guidance, but medical decisions should be made with a clinician when possible.

Accommodation, Food & Water

What are teahouses like?

Simple, clean lodges with:

  • twin rooms (usually)
  • shared bathrooms often (varies by region)
  • dining room with hot meals
  • Higher routes = simpler lodges.

Luxury options exist in some regions.

Can I get a private room?

Often yes, with a single supplement add-on, depending on season, availability, and route. In peak season, popular lodges in most of the busy villages sell out quickly.

What food is available on trek?

Common options:

  • dal bhat (best trekking fuel)
  • noodles, soups, fried rice
  • eggs, pancakes, porridge
  • tea/coffee
  • uou can always ask your guides to try out local delicacies.

Is the food safe?

Generally yes, if you keep it simple:

  • eat hot, freshly cooked meals
  • avoid raw salads at altitude
  • wash hands / use sanitizer

How do we handle drinking water?

We provide water filters (squueze kinds) for our treks. We also recommend refill + purification (filters/tablets/UV) to reduce plastic bottle waste. Bottled water is available in many places but creates waste and gets expensive at altitude.

Gear, Packing & Rentals

Do I need expensive gear?

Not necessarily. The key gear principles are:

  • proper layers
  • warm sleeping setup
  • good boots
  • rain/wind protection

Can I rent gear in Kathmandu/Pokhara?

Yes - sleeping bags, down jackets, poles, etc. We can recommend reliable rental shops and help you avoid low-quality gear.

Do I need a sleeping bag for teahouse treks?

Strongly recommended - especially in colder months or higher altitude routes.

Money, Payments & Tipping

Should I carry cash on trek?

Yes. Many mountain villages are cash-based and ATMs can be unreliable. We’ll tell you a realistic cash plan for your route.

Do you accept card payments?

Yes, if you're already here in Nepal. We do not have options for receiving payments via card online on our website. For deposits and invoices, wire transfers is often the easiest and reliable in our experience.

What’s a fair tipping guideline?

Tipping depends on group size, trek length, and service level. We’ll give you a simple tipping guide before the trek so it doesn’t feel awkward.

Flights, Transfers & Baggage

Are Lukla flights reliable?

They’re famous for delays due to weather/visibility. We always recommend building buffer days into international flight planning for Everest routes.

What about baggage limits on domestic flights?

Domestic flights can have strict baggage allowances (15kgs - 25kgs) and can be enforced. Pack light and use duffel - we’ll advise based on your route.

Do you arrange airport pickup?

Yes - most travellers prefer a smooth start. We handle your airport pickups/drops, hotels, and pre-trek briefing.

Connectivity, Charging & Wi-Fi

Will I have phone signal?

Sometimes yes, sometimes no -depends on region and altitude. In many routes you’ll have intermittent signal. Nepal Telecom (NTC) generally has better signal & coverage for calls & data.

Can I charge devices on trek?

Usually yes, often for a small fee at higher altitude. Bring:

  • power bank
  • multi-port charger
  • spare batteries (camera/GoPro)

Safety, Insurance & Emergencies

Do I need travel insurance?

Yes - especially for trekking. Your policy should cover:

  • trekking to your maximum altitude
  • emergency evacuation (helicopter, if needed)

What happens in an emergency?

We prioritise:

  • stabilise + assess
  • descend if needed
  • coordinate evacuation if required
  • keep family/contacts updated (with your permission)

Are your guides trained?

Yes. On top of being licensed trekking guides, our team is built around real mountain experience and safety-first decision-making.

Culture & Responsible Travel

How should I behave in monasteries and villages?

Simple rules:

  • dress modestly
  • ask before photographing people
  • walk clockwise around stupas/mani walls
  • respect quiet spaces and rituals

Do you support local communities?

Yes - our team is local, and we try to keep our spendings within the villages (lodges, local suppliers) while also encouraging low-waste trekking practices.

Still have questions?

Tell us your dates, your fitness level, and what you want to feel on this trek—adventure, comfort, culture, or all three. We’ll recommend the right route and build a plan that keeps you safe and enjoying Nepal to the fullest.
